Before You Begin

  • Transfers of firearms regulated by the Protect Illinois Communities Act must utilize a Federal Firearms Licensee to provide verification of exemption documents. Usage of this private sale transfer verification portal for the transfer of these firearms will result in a denial of the transfer and delays.
  • For Firearm Transfers, the transferor will need their FOID (or Illinois driver’s license if they do not have a FOID) and the make, model, and serial number of the item begin transferred. The transferee will need their FOID.
  • For Ammunition Transfers, the transferee will need their FOID.
